Super R-Type is a scrolling shooter video game developed and published by Irem for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It was released in Japan and North America in 1991, Europe in 1992, and Brazil in 1993 by Nintendo. It is a partial port of R-Type II, borrowing stages and enemies, but introducing several of its own.

Nebulus is a vertically scrolling platform game created by John M. Phillips and published by Hewson Consultants in the late 1980s for home computer systems. International releases and ports were known by various other names: Castelian, Kyorochan Land, Subline, and Tower Toppler (the version Jody plays). The player climbs a cylindrical tower studded with platforms. The tower rotates as the player moves horizontally, giving a 3D effect.

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, is a 1991 platform video game developed and published by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The third installment in the Ghosts 'n Goblins series and the first not to be released for arcades, it depicts knight Arthur saving Princess Guinevere and the kingdom from Emperor Sardius, who has cast a spell that has revived the Ghoul Realm.

Defender is a 1981 horizontally scrolling shooter video game developed and published by Williams Electronics for arcades. It was released in Japan by Taito. It is set on an unnamed planet where the player must defeat waves of invading aliens while protecting astronauts. Development was led by Eugene Jarvis, a pinball programmer at Williams; Defender was Jarvis's first video game project.
